With my sweetheart and #1 supporter, my wife Linda
Hello! And THANK YOU so much for visiting my website. My name is Marc Rhoades, and I have been performing as MrBluSkies for the past 17 years. I grew up in Reading, Ohio and then spent 7 years in Columbus, Ohio attending The Ohio State University. After graduation, I spent 2 years in the USAF Dental Corps at Webb AFB in Big Spring, Texas, then moved to Alpharetta, Georgia and practiced general dentistry for the next 40 years. My wonderful wife Linda discovered this beautiful community we know as The Villages, we purchased a house in the Village of Del Mar in August of 2013, and I retired from dentistry to become a full time Villager on January 15th, 2014. Like most people I've met here, I absolutely LOVE The Villages!
My Dad played the ukulele, and he and I started playing together when I was 14 years old. He taught me many of the sing-a-long songs I still enjoy all these many years later. I purchased my first banjo ukulele in 1995, and it has been a passionate hobby of mine ever since. Here in The Villages, I play and sing regularly with Sparkey's Strummers, the Ukulele Players Club, and the Villages Ukulele Club Silver Strummers. I also play with the Hummers and Strummers, and I'm the leader of the Banjolele Strings Club. The Villages is a ukulele heaven for me!
In 2000 I started calling myself MrBluSkies and discovered how much fun I could have performing sing-a-long gigs for various groups and retirement communities. Something about songs like "Let Me Call You Sweetheart", "Down By The Old Mill Stream", and "Five Foot Two Eyes of Blue" just put smiles on folk's faces. I hope I'll see you smiling and singing along with me at a sing-a-long gig in the near future.
Still smiling, still singing, and still strumming...
